Private Clients
During your initial consultation, we will explain how our charges are calculated. Whenever possible, we will provide a detailed breakdown of the estimated total costs, including our fees and any external resources such as solicitors or experts. As with all solicitors, we require your authorization to make these payments, known as disbursements, on your behalf.
In litigation matters, you may be able to recover your costs from the opposing party if you win your case.
Private Funding for Family Cases
For privately funded cases, we aim to offer fair and transparent pricing. If your case involves court proceedings, we provide a variety of fixed-fee packages. Our pricing policy is designed to be clear and reasonable, with no hidden costs. While we cannot discount court fees or other disbursements, we maintain strong relationships with barristers’ chambers that offer competitive private rates if solicitors are needed. We will inform you if court appearances are necessary and advise you on how to manage and minimize costs.
Public Funding
CITYWIDE Solicitors undertakes work funded by the Legal Aid Agency (LAA). Public funding, formerly known as legal aid, is a government-funded system administered by the LAA to provide legal advice and representation for those who cannot afford it. The LAA grants franchises for specific areas of law, endorsing our quality system, client commitment, and legal expertise.
Legal Expenses Insurance
Many household and motor insurance policies include coverage for legal costs. It is advisable to check the policy wording of your existing insurances before your first appointment to see if this is an option for your case.

Costing
We use Cost Law Services Limited (www.costlaw.com), highly skilled and specialist external Law Costs Draftsmen/Cost Lawyers, to prepare bills in the format required by the courts, the Legal Aid Agency, and our clients.
